Open Enrollment Starts Tomorrow, Nov. 1, 2018

Starting tomorrow, people can sign up for health coverage at for the 2019 calendar year. The sixth Open Enrollment period runs from November 1 through December 15. Get America Covered returns for the second year to get out the word about the deadline, let people know that affordable coverage options are available, and that it is easy to sign up.

“The number one thing people need to know is that if you need health coverage, now is the time to sign up,” said Joshua Peck, co-founder of Get America Covered. “Getting covered is easy, and plans are likely a lot more affordable than people think. Last year, 8 out of 10 people found plans for less than $75 thanks to financial help. These are plans that normally cost people hundreds of dollars but because of financial help become much more affordable. The catch: you have to sign up before December 15.”

Despite the affordable coverage options available and strong consumer demand for quality, comprehensive coverage, the current administration continues to undermine enrollment and has significantly reduced the outreach efforts that give people the basic information they need to sign up for health coverage.

“Get America Covered is returning for a second year because the administration is once again not doing their job,” said Peck. “People need the facts. So that’s what we’re going to do, make sure that people have the basic information they need to sign up for coverage.”

Since last year’s Open Enrollment, the administration has taken significant actions to undermine the marketplaces. Nevertheless, the marketplaces remain resilient, with nearly 12 million people having signed up last year and with people having even more affordable coverage options to choose from this year.

The facts are clear: people must sign up coverage between November 1 and December 15, 2018 to be covered for 2019 — and 8 out 10 people qualify for financial help that lowers their monthly premiums to between $50 and $100.
